Bright Inspirations

Yellow is a color we love at SoWoit. Why? For its amazing versatility and warmth. Here are a few stimulating examples of a glorious shade that never fails to impress and seduce, bringing to light your best moments, during the day or throughout the night.

Inspiration is a funny thing. It’s a journey. It can be capricious. But luckily, it’s found all around us. For me, the flashiness of the Duomo di Milano, illuminated at night, was a wake-up call for this glorious color. It’s also a matter of daring. My hunch is that we should be bolder. When deciding on a color, for instance: yellow in winter, really? Navy or black in July, not too dark? I dare you.

As far as yellow goes, a lovely old basket filled with freshly-picked quince offered a more soothing and confidential hue. These fruit with velvety skin were ready to be prepared as Portuguese Marmelada: a delicious paste made from this large, shapely pear-like fruit. The tangy quality of marmelada enhances many foods and preparations: cheese, matured, fresh or hard, but also stews and roasts and, of course, a variety of delicious desserts. You’ll find a reliable recipe here but if you travel to Lisbon, go and taste some at the Pastelaria “Real Príncipe”, Rua da Escola Politécnica, in the district of Princípe Real: it’s one of the best in town! Moreover, the neighborhood is charming and filled with beautiful and delicious sights.
