Care Instructions

Leather

A genuine leather SoWoit handbag is an investment worth protecting, treated right it will last your lifetime!

  1. Clean leather as soon as it is dirty. Wipe down your bag with a soft cloth with clean hands to dab the surface after every use.
  2. As soon as you see a mark or stain, make sure to remove it. The longer a stain sets into a fabric or material, the harder it is to remove. Certain stains, such as those from food or blood, can usually be removed with chalk powder Let it sit overnight before dusting it off.
  3. Be mindful of exposing it to harmful cleaners that may cause stains or damage. Choose products that are specifically intended to treat the different types of leather such as suede and patent leather and follow the directions to treat. To avoid over-treating the leather, apply a cleaner one or two times a year.
  4. Never keep your bag in direct sunlight or on a wet surface. Store it away from harsh light or sunlight, in a dry and dark space, preferably inside the SoWoit dust bag. Proper storage helps maintain shape and ensure longevity.
  5. Finally, avoid wear and tear by giving your SoWoit handbag a rest some days. Alternate between the different models on offer at SoWoit!

Textiles

With these simple tips, you can keep your favourite fabric SoWoit handbag in great shape for years to come:

  1. As soon as it is dirty wipe down the handbag with a soft white cloth (coloured cloths could bleed dye onto the fabric) that is clean and dampened with plain water. Wipe down the bag completely from top to bottom.
  2. If stains and soil remain, add a few drops of dishwashing detergent liquid to 1-quart water. Dip a white cloth in the solution, and blot heavily soiled areas. Keep moving to a clean spot on the cloth as grime is transferred. If there are stubborn stains, use a toothbrush dipped in the soapy solution to scrub them out. Finish by rinsing the cloth well in water and wiping away any detergent residue.
  3. Allow the bag to air-dry in a cool place away from direct sunlight or heat. If the bag won’t hold its shape while damp, fill it with white tissue paper. Do not use coloured paper or newspapers because ink can transfer, and do not use the handbag while it is damp because damp fabric picks up stains more quickly than dry fabric.

Pony Hair

Pony Hair is a term exclusively used to describe a leather product made from cow or goat hide, which has been shaved to resemble horsehair. It is very resistant, but it requires some procedures to assure a longer longevity:

  1. If your Pony Hair SoWoit handbag becomes matted or dirty you should clean it with a damp cloth or a soft brush, always working in the direction of the grain, never brushing the fur back and forth. Regular gentle brushing will prevent a build-up of dirt.
  2. Do not saturate the Pony Hair with cleaning products because this will result in patches of matting.
  3. Never, ever wash a Pony Hair item because this will dry out the hide and cause cracking.
  4. Your Pony Hair item should be stored in the SoWoit dust bag, protected from extremes of heat and cold and away from sunlight.
